“Run, but don’t run away” opens the chorus of this new single, a unique collaboration between South African musician Gazelle, Dither Down mainstay Jogyo and vocalist Devi Mambouka. 3 NYC-based transplants of African descent who have come together to create an invocation to “Change your perspective” and “Face your fears.” The result is “R.U.N”, an acronym of sorts that Jogyo says means “Remember Union Now.”

Also included on the single is a spaced out vocal remix from Sao Paulo via NYC dub legend Strikkly Vikkly aka Victor Rice. The single concludes with the Strikkly Vikkly Dub version that strips the track back down to its African core.

The name, JOGYO translates from sanskrit as “Pure thoughts or stillness among action.” The band, JOGYO is about flow, surrendering to the constant change and harnessing it to create a sonic bombast that is hard to compare to any other. JOGYO’s debut single Rude Boy has been making the rounds for a short while and after getting requests from some amazing producers to remix the song, we decided to take the plunge.The 12” release features remixes from NYC mainstays Whatever/Whatever and Eli Escobar, along with Switzerland’s Wildlife!

Taking the song to the refreshing land of funky nu disco house, is Whatever/Whatever, a new production DJ collaboration from veteran NYC DJ’s Justin Strauss and Brian Mette. Along with being the resident DJ at the Mudd Club, The Ritz, Area, Tunnel and Limelight, among many others, Strauss has remixed artists ranging from Depeche Mode to Luther Vandross to 808 State & Beyonce and in 1974, his band Milk n’ Cookies was signed to Island Records. The man is legendary. Mette, has previously released records and mixes under the name Carlton Banks. Their recent projects have included remixes for Jacques Green, Chinese Flash Mob, Yacht, Lenny Kravitz, and Foster The People.

Over the past 10 years, NYC DJ Eli Escobar has built a reputation around his parties, emerging as one of the most popular DJs on the NY dance scene. Having remixed everyone from Holy Ghost! to Britney Spears, Escobar has recently garnered attention for his original tracks including his popular release, “Work It” which was released earlier this year on Dither Down Records and he will release his debut full length album early next year on Plant Music. Eli’s take on Rude Boy is definitely one of his hardest hitting and turns Rude Boy into an in your face early 90’s acid freakout.

Between remixes for the likes of The Very Best, Poirier, The Dø, and Marina & The Diamonds, Switzerland’s Wildlife! managed to find the time to squeeze in this rousing dancehall meets bass take on Rude Boy. Wildlife! Is currently wrapping up the final tracks for his 2012 debut full length album, crashing together British punk rock legends with Jamaica’s reggae avant-garde.

And a bonus cut, a remix of ThundaCat by Boston’s mighty SPF 5000.

The Soundmen – Funny Feeling (Featuring All Dom Wrong)

Over the past two years, The Soundmen have become one of the hottest and most buzzed about production teams, remixers, and DJ duo in music. Comprised of Scott Durday, a talented drum and sample programmer, and Justin Jamison, a trained studio engineer and multi-instrumentalist, they draw from the sounds of their past to create music for the future.

The duo has been hard at work for 2012 and are proud to release their first official single via Dither Down Records. The song “Funny Feeling” is a genre bending, nostalgic trip down memory lane; laced with the bright synths and signature bounce of what listeners have come to expect from Soundmen productions. The track features the woozy vocals of The Glass (Plant Music) front-man Dominique Keegan, also known as All Dom Wrong. The single is out now on Dither Down Records with remixes from buzzing french producer MR KS and the soaring sounds of Panic City.

Already in high demand due to his immensely popular NYC parties, including Brooklyn’s Tiki Disco and the weekly Night People at Le Bain at the Standard, Lloydski is now applying that earned NYC style and swagger to his own original productions..

Lloydski’s debut single on Dither Down Records, “Go To Sleep,” is a late night plea for sanity. Produced by Lloyd along with help from Dither Don Tim Wagner (33Hz), “Go To Sleep” is a playful, downtempo, electro disco track that recalls early 80s italo and new wave while being a thoroughly modern affair.

Remixes on the single are courtesy of Mexico City wunderkind and Electrique Records label manager, La Royale. Born in 1990, La Royale loves cats, drum machines and his SH101.
